I started this painting on Thanksgiving weekend 2001. I sat about a kilometre away from this view
- on a sandbank. It was on that sandbank that I started drawing this scene with my ink nib. I closed
my watercolour pad and nearly forgot about this drawing. Many months later, while working in my co-op
gallery (the Corner Gallery, Newmarket), I was looking for some paper to draw on and re-discovered this
piece. I finished it from memory. I had to draw the final 25% of it and I added very bright liquid
acrylics and inks to the trees. I wanted to create a feeling of warmth on a cool day.
